Martel : Entry palace of Raymondie
Cet hôtel gothique des 13ème et 14ème siècles appartenait jadis à la forteresse des comtes de Turenne. Ses quatre ailes, flanquées d'échauguettes aux angles, s'organisent autour d'une vaste cour. On y pénètre par un portail orné d'un écusson et surmonté d'un beffroi. Les trois niveaux d'élévation richement ajourés s'ouvrent au rez-de-chaussée par une galerie d'arcades ogivales et, à l'étage noble, par sept fenêtres à roses quadrilobées. Les salles intérieures, qui abritent aujourd'hui un musée archéologique et historique, dévoilent deux belles cheminées en bois sculpté et un bas-relief de la Renaissance.

This Gothic hotel of 13th and 14th centuries belonged formerly to the fortress of the counts de Turenne. Its four wings, flanked watch towers with the angles, are organized around a vast court. One penetrates there by a gate decorated with an escutcheon and surmounted by a belfry. The three richly openwork levels of rise open at the ground floor by a gallery of ogival arcades and, on the noble floor, by seven windows with quadrilobate pinks. The interior rooms, which shelter an archaeological and historical museum today, reveal two beautiful chimneys out of carved wooden and a low-relief of the Rebirth.

La halle édifiée en 1785 est remarquable par sa charpente en châtaignier (charpente conçue par Teringot, géomètre à Martel).

La gare de Martel. Elle fut fermée en 1980. En 1991 un groupe de passionnés bénévoles créa une association qui, après des années de travail, rouvrit de nouveau la ligne en 1997.

The tower Tournemire (known as square tower)
La tour Tournemire (dite la tour carrée)Souvenir de l'enceinte de Martel, cette construction était autrefois l'une des sept tours de guet de la ville, avant de servir de prison royale puis seigneuriale. Haute de 25 mètres, la tour Tournemire est aujourd'hui coiffée d'un toit à créneaux, tandis que les mâchicoulis ont eux disparu.

To remember the enclosure of Martel, this construction was formerly one of the seven turns of guet of the city, before being used as royal prison then seigneuriale. High, the Tournemire tower 25 meters is capped today with a roof with crenels, while the machicolations them disappeared.

Martel in Quercy is located at the North-West of the Batch, in full heart of the causse which bears its name, in High Quercy. At 5 km of the Dordogne river, Martel is located at cross of three areas: The Midday-Pyrenees - the Limousin - Aquitaine, near Rocamadour, Souillac, Saint-Céré, Carennac, Brive-the-Strapping woman, Collonges-the-Red, Turenne, Sarlat, Eyrignac, and of the pit of Padirac.
